Streaming Shabbat Service #4 from our Online Synagogue
August 20, 2009 · Filed Under Streaming Shabbat
Rabbis Barr and Baum led this service Friday night at 6PM (August 21st). To view previous services, click here.
This week they talked about adultery. It wasn’t be a traditional Shabbat service. It’s short (under 20 minutes) and includes Shabbat rituals (candles, challah bread, and wine). The rabbis also read from the Shabbat liturgy and ledd a discussion.

Thank you Rabbi Barr and Rabbi Baum! I look forward to the Shabbat services each week. Due to work schedule I rarely get to watch live but I jump straight to the archives as soon as possible. Thank you for blessing our Shabbat with your considerate and thoughtful discourse on these fascinating topics! Thank you for sharing your time with congregants here in the virtual world of the web! Shabbat Shalom.

Thanks for the terrific service! I really enjoyed the topics today and would love to see discussion starters on ethics and morality. Love the Torah portion of the site. Thanks again for the opportunity to participate and enjoy Shabbat with my community. This site is truly a blessing! I feel so connected and fulfilled knowing at the end of the week I can spend time with like-minded folks in a community where I belong. I am invigorated by this opportunity to celebrate Humanistic Judaism and my heart fills with joy as I light the candles of Shabbat.

Nice abbreviated service! I did not know that adultery only involved married women in Biblical times.
I watched it Saturday night!

That was great !
You are correct, it would have been early Shabbat morning where I am (about 12 hrs ahead).
It was nice to hear a shout out to us Aussies here although the “Crocodile Dundee” thing always makes me cringe !
Thanks for the service I will be sure to get myself up early one morning soon as I would like to experience it live.

What a great Shabbat !
I’m listening to the broadcast from The Dominican Republic, live streaming is not great from here, the archives are much easier to download.
I didn’t know that back then women were “property”, a contract makes all sense then.
Chills run through my skin as you speak the wise words only Rabbis could speak. Thank you for those words, I know myself better as they allow me to see my past my present and my future.
